Write about the way people use language. Consider the following:
- Are there different kinds of slang?
- What types of people use slang?
- When is slang appropriate?
- When is slang not appropriate?
In order to receive full credit you must write at least 5 complete and correct sentences with quotation marks around any slang words you use. You must also respond to a classmate's post using one of the following sentence starters:
I agree because...
I disagree because...
I don't understand...
That reminds me of...
I use slang I aint gonna lie. I think its normal everybody does it. Like when i talk to people you can usually hear it. People think that if you use a lot of slang your hood or ghetto. Its not true you have to look past it sometimes and see who the person really is. If you use slang i don't care about the way you talk doesn't make the person you are.

DeleteYes there are many types of slang, but the slang comes with how the person is, who they grew up with, and how they were brought up. Like if you were born on a farm, and grew up as a country girl/boy at heart, your slang would be different. Everyone has a different way they talk. I don't use as much slang as a lot of other people do. When slang is appropriate, is when you are with a group of friends, or it's for the moment.

Slang is appropriate when hanging out with your buddies and people that are comfortable with you using slang with them.
That reminds me of me saying " You aint ever gonna be cool like me" for the first time in Miami.

ReplyDeleteYes, i use slang. I feel it shouldn't matter sometimes it can show someones individuality. There are different types of slangs, ghetto, text talk, surf talk, skater etc. I think slang is appropriate when you talk to your friends our your texting I believe, you shouldn't use slang when you are either at a job interview or like maybe when your doing an assignment you shouldn't use slang.

DeleteThere a many types of slang. Depending on who the person is , where they come from , and who they be around depends on how they use slang. Everybody uses slang it just come naturally you don't realize you're talking in slang. A lot of people you talk to talk in slang and you don't catch it because you talk in slang too. Sometimes slang isn't always appropriate.

DeleteSlang is a type of language that consists of words and phrases that are regarded as very informal. Yes i do use slang. I only use it sometimes though. I don't think theres anything wrong with people that use slang. I do think that you shouldn't use it all the time however, it should be the only way that you talk because then people will start to get annoyed.

Yes, I use slang, and yes there is different types of slang. There is texting slang, hood slang and many more. I believe slang is only appropriate when you're hanging out with your friends or when you're texting someone. Slang is inappropriate when you're in the classroom and talking to adults.

By saying the word phat, we already know what that person means.When we say these words we make ourselves unique. Sometimes slang is not important like in a interview.people just need to use slang when you are talking to friends and not a business meeting
ReplyDeletei disagree i believe people use slang as a form of laziness to get out of spelling words correctly and even though it only takes a couple more seconds to type their message, they choose to type a shorter message that can be misunderstood by the reader

But I feel that theres a certain place and time to use slang. Like don't use slang at school because you will always get corrected and stuff like that. I use it because some words sound too posh to be said while talking casually and others times its because there isnt a real word in the english language that can describe what im talking about.

DeleteI sometimes use slang. I only use slang when Its an appropriate situation. When certain people talk you can hear it.It may just be they way they were brought up or just something that they got from a different place.Like a person who was brought up in Kentucky would have a southern accent but a person who was brought up in florida wouldn't have one .

DeleteIn today, there are many different types of slang, slang is obtained by each person throughout there life at an early age. It also determines n where your born, where your from, and where you live now. But slang doesnt have to be an early age thing it can be picked up as a habit at any age, for example texting, you can go from what is now called a "grammar Nazi"to then going to, "wen r u goin 2 the park, 2day or 2marow". Personally i hate slang texting and verbal, i see it as a form of illiteracy, so i dont use it, but to other people it is a form of communication and thats why it is used in todays society.

It can be from your family or acquaintances. Even the influence of culture, as well as where you live or the generation of your family affects the way you speak. As a result, you speak with accents and even slangs.

Slang is appropriate when you talk to certain people at different times like when you talk to your parent you don't say omg today was so funny lol. its not appropriate when you home or at class you don't just start talking to your friend when other people are talking and in some language that don't know and start cursing to. so i think that slang is slang we all use it every day
I agree with slang but there are times when I don't agree with it. Yes I use it but only when its appropriate. When I'm talking to my friends or siblings that are my age or around it, I use slang but when I'm talking to adults I don't. When kids are talking to adults they should talk to them with respect but when they're talking to their friends its okay. Slang is okay to use but as long as you use it when its appropriate.

I think that slang is okay to use anytime, mostly when talking to friends. But sometimes you have to be careful around adults when using slang. I may some times use country or skater slang.
ReplyDeleteI use slang at times when it is appropriate. I do not care if people use slang but only at times when it is appropriate. Like hanging around with buddies. But never do you use slang in a business setting. There are different types of slang, but the types come from where the person picked it up from. For example there are people who live with their grandparents and they pick up some of the slang from their grandparents generation or who ever they live with.

I don't feel any different from people who use slang or not because usually everyone uses slang and people are used to it. There are different kinds of slang like country or ghetto. I think everyone uses slang it just depends where your' re from. I think slang is appropriate when you're around your friends or close family. You shouldn't use slang when your' re being interviewed for a job because they might think you are uneducated.

DeleteLanguage has many different factors. There is a time and a place for slang. If your talking to your friends or someone close its appropriate to use slang. If you are like around family or somewhere you need to be respectful then I don't think its appropriate for slang. I don't think using slang tell what kid of person you are. I use slang myself i feel its easier to talk. Anyone can use it just make sure you use it correctly.

DeleteIt all depends on where you're at when you're using slang. Some slang is extremely disrespectful and others are common. I don't usually use disrespectful slang, because it gets you no where. The only thing it does is make you look uneducated. Kids in school sometimes use slang when i walk past them or even to me and they just look completely stupid. But you never know, they might be really smart, but when you use slang all the time, thats what kind of image you put out there to people.
